Resources mentioned in Character Development Trainings

Please find the attached resources or links regarding materials I refer to in my character development training sessions:

Film Clips for Character Education–these amazing clips of movies that your youth will recognize provide wonderful conversation triggers around issues of decision-making and character.  For more information visit www.filmclipsonline.com.  Be sure to tell Mike that Kay sent you! :)

For great Assessment instruments and for 100 Best Practices for high school initiatives visit www.smartandgood.org

Quality Standards for Character Education visit: www.character.org

For additional assessment ideas visit www.character.org

For wonderful active learning activities to use in your classroom visit Tom Jackson’s site at www.activelearning.org.  See Activities that Teach, More Activities that Teach, and Still More Activities that Teach as well as Conducting Group Discussions with Kids–all excellent resources.  Please don’t forget that these are not “games”; to make them educationally beneficial you must process or have the students reflect on the learning immediately following the activity.
